Lessons Learned from 10 Years in Business

What I wish I'd known before I started my business

There are ZILLIONS (underestimate) of lessons I’ve learned as a business owner over the past decade and countless nuggets of advice I want to pour into those coming behind me and walking alongside me.

But advice is a lot like opinions…

Everyone has some AND they’re not always relevant and applicable for you.

While sparing you my advice, I’m sharing three things I wish I knew before I started as we spark up a conversation and reflect on some of the lessons learned along the way.

In this episode:

  • Don’t forget to tell them who you are!
  • Some of us know before we try, and some of us have to try to know – what to do if you’re the latter
  • There are no shortcuts. I repeat, there are no shortcuts.
  • Failure is a wide, open door, a beginning… not an end.
3 Lessons from 10 Years of Entrepreneurship
  1. Sometimes you don’t know until you try it. Sometimes you don’t need to try it to know you don’t like it! There’s a whole range between “chase your dreams” “take action” “just do it” and take your time. Neither is right/wrong and knowing where you fall on the spectrum can help better set you up for success.
  2. There are no shortcuts, hacks, overnight solutions, and magical potions. Courses, coaches, books, products, services… they’re not solve-alls AND they can in some instances, lead you down a road you don’t want to be going down.
  3. Failure is a wide open door. It’s a beginning, not an end… it’s also a pretty necessary part of entrepreneurship!
